EEAB - ECOLE D'ETÉ D'ARCHITECTURE DE BELGIQUE 2023

—WEEKEND II—

A nice saturday with Conor, Flemish Primitives and a tile painting workshop with Nadia in a Park of Brussels.

Yes I know, it's Wednesday and this post is about 3 days ago. Yes, in the meantime have happened more things that still need to be posted... what can I do, «I'm only human after all, don't put your blame on me» dum-dududum.
The thing is that this year I need to keep working through while the School is going, and after two weeks I'm feeling it. No big deal...just a bit of latency. So that you know, so please don't ask me on Twitter if it is all finished already or why I don't update the blog. I'm here for you, friends.

Watch the video first, then I'll explain...

On a nice summer Saturday, the students visit the Sint-Salvatorkerkhof, the renowned cathedral which displays a rich interior and detailed decorations. It's overlapping of different architectural styles makes it very interesting for our talks.
The surroundings of the church used to be a graveyard and are now part of the city of Bruges under the later shape of gardens and suggestive urban perspectives.

Can't stay too long at Sint-Salvator, there is the scheduled visit at the Groeninge Museum under the tutoring of Noé! He was going to educate us on the Flemish Primitives...I say "was" because he couldn't: it was forbidden!
Ladies and gentlemen, in 2023 it is forbidden to explain your friends (for free) something in a museum. For that «you need an official guide».

Anyways, nothing stops Conor and the students from keeping sketching some interesting detail of the paintings!

Not done yet, in the evening we still have something more for you: a quick gigantic drawing of a gothic window! Take a look:

And then comes Sunday, a day of relax and freedom where everyone is allowed to go wherever they wish. While the students visit what they please, Nadia is instead very busy with a workshop at the Scheutsbospark. Her public initiative is aimed at the general public of all ages and goes around naturalistic ornamentation of tiles, and this workshop was a way to present the Association too. Among the participants were children and elders.

Time to say farewell to Conor, the day is over and so his task for this year. But long before the sun goes down, in the city of Gent the party is ragin' for days already, with the Gentse Feesten! The night is young, but we don't want to drink too much as we don't want to risk running into some police control on the road! Yeeeees, isn't it?
